Volume 43 and 44 (edited)

Our raw provider got vol 44 and the raws of vol 43 are available on JB's site. So I guess you can start with onw of those. We share the files on google drive so you can send Gamergoddes a pm with your E-mail and ask him to send you the raws of vol 44 so you can translate them. If you want to start working on that one. Manga reader X already said that ShadowGlow is translating the first chapter of vol 43. If you want to start translating on the second chapter go ahead. (I do think it's better if you start working on the second chapter of vol 43. You can write the translation down on a word document and put it on Google drive. You can share it with the typesetters when the cleaning (if necessary) is also finished. As for the translation names, we decided to use Chuang Yi's way of nicknaming (which is closer to the original nicknames), the items just get their English names as for characters... it depends if the English name is revealed we stick to the English name, if it's not known we use the Japanese names.

Got it! I have a copy of volume 43 on hand, so I'll start with the second chapter of volume 43 for convenience's sake.

So far, i've been referring to bulbapedia for names, since i dont know where to find names that chuang yi uses.
For Black's pokemon, i would like to use viz's nick, if not to come up with new nicknames.
anon's choice to keep the japanese nick makes it weird when it is explained how Black decides nicknames for his pokemon.

I am almost done with the chapter, just 2 pages left but I'll only be able to work on them later on Wed. It's the same link as before.

Just one thing, we use Google Documents, since they, unlike word documents, are editable within Google Drive.

@Shadowglow: I  used Black's japanese nicknames when I was typesetting chapter 44, also Max used the Japanese nicknames too. For some reason they sound better to me than Viz's.

@Dreamingflower, but he makes nicks based on their names of their final evolution. This results in somehing terrible for the readers.

I've finally finished the 1st chapter of v43

Nice! Now we need a translator or another translation checker to translation check the chapter, a cleaner to clean the first chapter and a typesetter to stand by and wait.

So apparently VIZ released volume 43 yesterday. Should we use the VIZ translation with some altering (+ maybe some of /a/non's TLs) for volume 43 and have TLers start with volume 44 instead?

Hasn't volume 44 and 45 already been released in the mini-volumes? Maybe we can use VIZ + /a/non's TL's for that as well?

I kinda like the Japanese nicknames Black used. I know it's based on the Japanese names, thought Tula and Musha don't change. I already used the nicknames Max used in the translation for chapter 44, which are the Japanese nicks.

Should we do so that we use ShadowGlow's TL for the first chapter, /a/non's TLs for all chapters that he has translated and VIZ TLs for the rest? If we do that we could have volume 43 done faster than otherwise.

We could just do that. I think VIZ has done a pretty decent job, not that I've compared it with the raw.

I almost forgot, since ShinySneasel has begun translating the second chapter we will use that translation, if ShinySneasel still wants to finish it knowing this. Otherwise we'll use VIZ's translation.

I don't mind using Viz's translation!
Though in that case, it's worth keeping in mind that Viz has done a lot of the BW chapters already too, and would we just be using Viz for everything or where would we be doing our own translations?

I think that we could use /a/non's and VIZ translations when possible. If that results in the translators not getting much work then they could perhaps TLC the translations.

I'm just new here.. and I'm collecting Japanese Raws of the Pokemon Special. I saw this post, Volume 44, and I edited the Cover since the color is just a little bit different.

Here is what I edited (I resized it since the file is too huge):

Do you have the unresized version? I am aware that the files are huge, but I thought that we would compress them with PNGGauntlet, which is a program that can compress images to PNGs with up to 60% smaller filesizes (If I remember correctly). The compression is very near lossless, so almost no quality is lost, but the compression should be done after all the editing is done. I also know some image hosts that allow huge filesizes and resolutions.

I plan on rescanning the cover sometime before I make the final upload, however I may not bother updating the cover in the OP of the thread there. I plan to scan at least the third chapter today so I might do the rescan then.

I edited the original file then resized it. The one I uploaded was just the resized one. I hope Gamergoddess rescan it like /a/non is doing with the scans of his. Hoping it will be uploaded soon.. I'm willing to donate if ever.. thanks
