Staff emblems

How I have planned the emblems:

Cleaner: A paintbrush
Typesetter: A black fountain pen
Translator: 翻訳者 (Translator in kanji.)
Raw Provider: A grayscaled (I think that's what it's called when a colour image is made black and white) resized version of Pokémon Special vol. 1's Japanese cover: dogasu.bulbagarden.net/manga/pocket_monsters_special/volume01.png
Quality Checker: An eye, DGS style (i1.ifrm.com/11887/45/pip/Cleaner_copy.gif), that is white on the outside and black in the middle.


I think that the symbols shouldn't be too detailed if possible. Quite basic. I like Dragon Guard's emblem text, so I think we should try to mimic that style as close as possible.




So, I experimented a little with a raw provider emblem, decided to try something new and here is the result:




This is only a prototype and that's why it's not on our album on jb2448.info. I didn't know what pixel dimensions to make it in, but I figured that I wouldn't make it bigger than 150 x 150 pixels, since that is the max pixel dimensions for avatars on Forummotion. So I want some feedback on this. What do you like about it, and what don't you like about it?

After having taken a second look at this emblem I have decided that I don't like it. I will probably use a darker background for beta 2 and white text. I'll also place the symbols a little bit more to the right.

The emblem looks a bit weird... Anyway I added a gallery to this forum, so you can post the finished emblems/ banners ect. there.

It's time for the release of beta 2 of the Raw Provider emblem:




Since the symbol for the Raw Provider emblem, Pokémon Special vol. 1's Japanese cover, is the most detailed symbol the other emblems will look better than this.

So, what do you think? What is worth saving and what should be changed? When I have a final version I will release it to the forum gallery.

Beta 3 release:




This time I chose a background colour similar to the background colour on Dragon Guard's emblems. For the beta 4 release I might try to make the edges round. I don't know if I'll add any kind of frame around the emblem.

I like beta 3 version better, but that's just me.

I think this version is final. I like the beta 4 round frame version best.

I think that I am done with all the staff emblems now. I couldn't upload this to my personal forum gallery, so I suggest that Dreamingflower takes a look at that and enables all forum members' personal galleries.
Let me know what you think. I can still change it.
I have uploaded all emblems to tinypic, which auto-converts all images to JPG, but the quality should still be good enough. When it has been decided that this is the final version I will upload the original PNGs.

I am unsure if the Pokémon Special vol. 1 Japanese cover in the raw provider emblem should be in colour or grayscaled, so I did both. The colour version is easier to recognise while the grayscaled version fits better with the other emblems.
The quality of the text could probably be improved if it would be redone in Photoshop, but since the image is so small it shouldn't matter much. But, if anyone wants to redo the text in Photoshop I can send you the original PNGs.

Okay I added an album with the emblems, thanks Manga Reader X for making them, I also made it able for you to add pictures. Just click on that broken icon that refused to show the real picture I put as upload icon.

I just noticed something. I will have to edit all the emblems a little more tomorrow, then I will upload the PNGs. Please delete those emblems from the forum album. I will replace them tomorrow.

I think that we will use the colour version of the raw provider emblem, so that peeple can see what the symbol of that emblem is.

Okay the emblems are up and I have to admit they look pretty neat.

Thanks! The quality checker emblem was definitely the hardest one to make. I think it took me about three hours because I had to redraw this eye into the eye on the emblem.

Yw, wow 3 hours, I didn't even noticed you redrew it form a Egyptian eye.

Yeah, it took a while before I got decent results. The quality checker emblem is version 7.

I have now made an emblem for Chinese translators:

The usual Japanese characters for translation checker is 翻訳チェッカー , but I used half-width characters, which is another variant that was more compressed and fit better: 翻訳ﾁｪｯｶｰ

Haha that's one good way to utilize those half-width Japanese characters, that's for sure.

Kanji and kana can be so handy from time to time.

This is sort of the wrong thread since these are donor emblems and not staff emblems, but whatever. I thought that donors would get to pick one of these banners and put it in their signature (if they want to, of course).
I will probably resize the Kaiba and Scrooge McDuck banners to fit the forum better. I might have to edit the Kaiba banner to make the text more visible. Maybe I should add a stroke effect around it? Where can I find the stroke effect in Photoshop?

The emblems look very good! Though I think the translators symbol is a litte bit too hard to see.

For the stroke effect just double-click on the layer and choose the obvious.
