VIZ or CY?

I'm telling you, it is really hard to keep locking on which version we should use in our translations. VIZ and Chung Yi both have their cons and pros, but which version would you prefer?

I myself prefer the Japanese nicknames the most, since they have a meaning behind the nicknames, but CY sticks with most of them so CY for me

In all of the type-settings/cleanings I did so far, I used VIZ's nicknames like Aibo and Exbo.

Though I prefer the Japanese nicknames, I believe we must serve people who can't read the official manga (that's what our work is about), and the official translations are now VIZ's.

However, since those people are soon 'ex-customers' of /a/non's they have been used to the CY nicknames. There's no big difference for me though.

People all around the world can read our releases. Not only the ones who read the Viz version.

It's a tough call. I mean... we could use VIZ, but as mentioned before, nicknames vary. If the /a/non translations are from CY, we should go with that as to not create confusion. I've noticed that when things such as names or reading directions switch, people get confused (sooo not sure if choosing one or the other means switching reading direction or if we'll just flip the image.)

Either way, my vote is with CY - accidentally clicked VIZ-

EDIT: Another thing is the use of "Chris" instead of Crys" but that's another story.

About Crys/Chris, I must insist on VIZ's names for characters. I can't stand Wallene, Maryann and Tyler, Robot King, Tuga, Marge, Mitch, Angie, Ark, Prof. Starstone and all that Chuang Yi mess.

What names did Viz use for there characters?

The ones from the games (Wanda, Gabby and Ty, etc.)

For the BW arc, I think using VIZ's nicknames for pokemon is better, since they have like a 9 3/4-chatpered volume lead on us.

The names I used we the ones Max wrote down and I prefer sticking to them.
White's whole team are named after girls and most of them are english names. So what's the point in changing them?

The reason was mainly the way Black gives nicknames to his pokemon and a sense of familiarity for those who had read the official English BW version.

Anyway, it's not like CY has anything on the BW arc.

Then we'd have a third point in the poll, besides Chuang Yi and Viz, that is using the Japanese names the way they are. /a/non used the Japanese names (like Poka for Tep), but was susceptible to change it for the main English version (I believe Chuang Yi's names ruled up to the Emerald arc).

I've already pointed out before that I like the Japanese names the best, but the poll has been closed already and making another poll for this is a little bit... well you know.

Oh, I was actually quoting your comment before ShadowGlow, stating that Japanese names would be an option. As Manga Reader X said, we should follow /a/non's habits, so Japanese names would be used only until we get the English ones.
